Mac OS X / How to right click with your mighty mouse on your apple computer

Learn how to Right Click with your Mighty Mouse

...And yet another quick tutorial about how to use Mac OS X. Due to 7 requests; this next tutorial will be how to Right-Mouse Click with the Mighty Mouse. i will not be including the instruction for holding Command (Apple) clicking. I just did but that is not really Right mouse clicking. Mighty Mouse can "Right-Mouse click" by depressing the right side of the mouse. Mighty Mouse can do all kinds of stuff, you just have to know how to tell it what to do. Then let's get to it and get this one done.

Just before we get started... As in every tutorial on this site I have to warn you my computer is not set up "standard" I have my Dock on the left side of the screen and I have a "Clear" theme. This should not cause you any problems, you should know where your dock is and you should understand that not every one wants to have "Brushed Metal" as their default theme. If you have any questions, send me a mail through the contact form. Now that we have that out of the way.System Preferences Icon for Tiger

Preparing

As with my Learn how to Set or Change your Desktop Background on apple computers tutorial there is not much to "Prepare" for.

Execution

In your Dock, there is a System Preferences icon. Click on that.
You should have already been through your System Preferences. There are lots of goodies in there. I can not live without Exposé and I am very happy that I could put the Dock on the left side of my screen. Also, you will see that my System Preferences Overview has some extra stuff at the bottom. I will get to all of that, eventually; got questions about that stuff? Send me a mail through the contact form.

Now, you have just opened your System Preferences overview. In the second row "Hardware", under the fifth icon, you will read "Keyboard & Mouse". Click that.

In the window that opens up there, there is a menu at the top. The second button (on a macBook or macBookPro "Trackpad" is the second so "mouse" is third) is "Mouse" click that too.

Now you should see some thing like this image:

Here I have the right side of the mouse set for "Secondary Button". If you would like to get the Options menu by depressing the right side of your mouse then set yours that way too. Just click the blue double arrows at the side and select "Secondary Button" from the drop down menu.

You can now close system Preferences. there is no "ok" or "save" button. It just does it.

With that done you can now right click. Give that a test by clicking on what ever. If it did not work go backup to the beginning of "Execution" and start again.

...that is all I have to say on that. The rest of those options, feel free to play with those. I will get to them with quick tutorials eventually.
